Privacy Policy.
Last updated: May 13, 2026
Raiser Software Inc. ("we", "our", or "us") makes PawGotchi: Fitness Companion ("PawGotchi" or the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we do not sell your data, your health information stays on your device by default, and we built the App to do as little data collection as possible while still being useful.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, a display name, a friend code (used as a public handle), and the name you give your bear.
- Profile Details: During onboarding we ask for date of birth, biological sex, height, starting weight, activity level, and your fitness goal so we can calculate personalised calorie and macro targets.
- Tracking Data: Foods you log, calories and macros, weights you record, water intake, custom recipes, and the workouts you build and complete (sets, reps, weight, rest times, personal records).
- Mascot & Game Data: Your bear's level, XP, coin balance, equipped outfits, room decoration choices, daily-quest progress, and shop purchase history (in-game items only).
- Friends: If you add a friend by sharing your friend code, we store that connection and surface a shared leaderboard with people you've added. See the "Friends" section below for the full scope (and a clear list of what we deliberately do not do).
- Apple Health & Android Health Connect: If you grant permission, we read activity signals (steps, walking/running distance, flights climbed, active energy, exercise minutes) to credit daily quests and display your weekly activity chart. See the section below for details.
- Motion / Activity Sensor: When the App is open, PawGotchi reads your device's motion sensor (pedometer) to update your step count live. Step samples are processed on-device; only the resulting daily total is stored.
- Camera: The camera is used for barcode scanning when logging food, and optionally for capturing weigh-in progress photos. Progress photos are stored only on your device — see "Photos" below.
- Purchases: If you subscribe to PawGotchi Pro, our payment processor (RevenueCat) collects your subscription status, purchase history, and a pseudonymous purchaser ID. Apple or Google (whichever store you purchased through) processes the actual payment — we never see your payment details.
- Crash Data: When PawGotchi crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects a stack trace, device model, operating system version, and your account identifier so we can diagnose the crash and contact you if needed. No food, weight, photo, or message content is included.
- Performance Data: Firebase Performance Monitoring collects aggregated metrics (app start time, network request latency, screen rendering time) along with device model and OS version so we can identify slow paths. No personal content is included.
- App Check Token: Firebase App Check produces a short-lived cryptographic token on first launch (via Play Integrity on Android and App Attest on iOS) so our backend can verify that requests come from a real PawGotchi install. The token does not identify you and is not linked to your account.
Apple Health & Android Health Connect
PawGotchi reads activity signals from Apple Health (iOS) or Android Health Connect in a deliberately narrow, read-only way and only with your explicit permission.
- Read-only, limited types: We read the following activity signals: daily step count, walking/running distance, flights climbed, active energy burned, and exercise minutes. These are used to credit daily quests and render your weekly activity chart. Only the daily summary count is stored on our servers — the raw samples stay on your device.
- Never written back: PawGotchi does not write any data back into Apple Health or Health Connect. Calories, weight, and workouts you log inside PawGotchi stay inside PawGotchi unless you choose to share them.
- Types we do not read: We do not read heart rate, sleep, blood pressure, glucose, body measurements, dietary or nutrient data, workouts logged by other apps, or any other health data type beyond the activity signals listed above.
- Never sold, never used for advertising: Health data is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to derive a profile of you.
- You can revoke at any time (iOS): Open the Settings app on iOS, tap Health → Data Access & Devices → PawGotchi → and toggle off any or all data types. The App will stop reading them immediately.
- You can revoke at any time (Android): Open the Health Connect app, tap App permissions → PawGotchi, and toggle off any data type. The App will stop reading them on its next launch.
Photos
Progress photos are stored only on your device. When you attach photos to a weigh-in, they live in PawGotchi's private storage area on your phone — they are never uploaded to our servers, never shared with third parties, and are deleted along with the weigh-in entry. They do not appear in your device's main camera roll.
PawGotchi does not currently support cloud backup or syncing of progress photos. If we add an optional Pro feature for cloud backup in the future, this section will be updated and you will be asked for explicit consent before any photo leaves your device.
Friends
PawGotchi has a deliberately small social surface. When the friends feature is enabled, you can:
- Share a friend code (a short handle) with another PawGotchi user to add each other.
- See a shared leaderboard of you and your friends, based on quest completion and other gamification stats you've already chosen to track in the App.
- Send preset encouragement messages in a future update (this is not yet shipped; this section will be updated when it ships).
What PawGotchi deliberately does not offer:
- No chat or direct messaging between users.
- No free-text messages of any kind.
- No photo or video sharing between users.
- No general "activity feed" that broadcasts what you log to other users.
Features in Development
Some features are described in our store listings and marketing pages but have not yet shipped to users. We list them here so the disclosures and data-handling for each are documented before they become available.
- Pic Scan (PawGotchi Pro): A planned Pro feature that will let you log a meal by taking a photo of it. When it launches, photos will be sent to a third-party computer-vision provider for nutritional analysis, processed for that single request, and not retained for model training. The specific provider will be disclosed in this section before the feature is enabled for users.
- Push Notifications: Optional reminders (a daily check-in, hydration nudges, friend activity) sent via Firebase Cloud Messaging. The first launch where notifications are enabled will request your permission and store a device-specific FCM token linked to your account. Notifications are off by default and you can revoke them in your device settings.
- Weigh-in Photo Cloud Backup (PawGotchi Pro): A planned optional Pro feature that will let you back up your weigh-in progress photos to Firebase Cloud Storage, encrypted in transit. Off by default; you would have to explicitly enable it. Until that ships, progress photos stay on your device only.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
- Render your bear, room, daily quests, XP and coin balances based on the activities you log
- Show your friend code, bear, and leaderboard stats to the specific friends you've added
- Diagnose crashes and performance regressions
- Respond to your support requests
- (Future) Deliver optional push notifications such as a daily check-in or hydration nudge — see "Features in Development" above. Notifications will be off by default and revocable from your device settings
We do not use your data to train machine-learning models, build advertising profiles, or sell access to third parties.
Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With Friends You Choose: If you exchange friend codes with another PawGotchi user, your display name, friend code, bear name, and leaderboard stats become visible to that friend. You can remove a friend at any time from within the App.
- Service Providers: We use the third-party processors listed in the "Third-Party Processors" section below to host and operate PawGotchi. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-processing obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
Third-Party Processors
We rely on the following third-party services to deliver PawGotchi. Each is named so you know who processes your data and why:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC / Google Cloud) — hosts the database, file storage, authentication, and server-side logic that power PawGotchi. Specifically:
- Firebase Authentication — verifies your identity when you sign in with email, Google, or Apple.
- Cloud Firestore — stores your profile, food log, weights, workouts, quests, mascot state, room layout, friend connections, and feed events.
- Firebase Cloud Storage — hosts the room-decoration and shop cosmetic asset images that PawGotchi downloads to render your virtual room. This is a one-way (read-only) flow; no user photos or content are uploaded today. (When the planned Pro weigh-in cloud backup ships, this section will be updated to disclose that upload path.)
- Firebase Cloud Functions — runs trusted server-side operations such as awarding coins, validating purchases, and proxying our food database lookups.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports tagged with your account identifier so we can diagnose issues. No food, weight, or message content is included.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring — collects anonymised performance metrics (app start time, network latency, screen rendering time).
- Firebase App Check — verifies that requests come from legitimate PawGotchi installs, using Play Integrity (Android) and App Attest (iOS).
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — manages PawGotchi Pro subscriptions. Receives your App Store or Google Play purchase events and a pseudonymous user identifier so we can grant Pro access.
- FatSecret Platform (FatSecret) — backs our barcode-scan and food-search features. When you scan a barcode or search a food, the query is sent to FatSecret (via our Cloud Functions proxy) to retrieve nutritional data. Queries are not linked to your PawGotchi account on FatSecret's side.
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — optional sign-in method; if you use it, Google handles the authentication handshake and shares your email, name, and profile photo with PawGotchi.
- Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) — optional sign-in method; if you use it, Apple handles the authentication handshake and returns an account identifier (and your name and email on first sign-in, unless you choose to hide them).
- Image-Recognition Provider (Pic Scan, Pro — not yet shipped) — when the planned Pic Scan feature ships, your photo will be sent to a third-party computer-vision provider to identify food items and estimate nutrition. The photo will be processed for that single request and will not be retained for training. The specific provider will be named here before Pic Scan is enabled for users.
- Apple and Google (App Stores) — process PawGotchi Pro payments. Their privacy policies govern that payment data; we never receive your payment card details.
We do not use any advertising, behavioural-tracking, or data-broker services in PawGotchi. The App contains no ads.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure via Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions). We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by default on Google Cloud.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the App. Food log entries, weights, and workouts are retained indefinitely so your trends remain accurate, unless you delete them yourself in the App.
You can delete your account at any time through the App settings. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, though some information may be retained in backups for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) before being permanently purged.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Revoke Apple Health access at any time from the iOS Health app, or Android Health Connect access from the Health Connect app
- Opt out of camera, motion, and (future) notification permissions from your device's system settings
Children's Privacy
PawGotchi is rated 4+ on the App Store. While the App contains no objectionable content, calorie- and weight-tracking features are not appropriate for young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the PawGotchi app by navigating to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently remove your profile, your bear, your food log, weight history, workouts, mascot state, room contents, and any other personal information from our systems.
If you are unable to access the App or need assistance with data deletion, you can submit a request by emailing us at support+pawgotchi@raisersoftware.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You can request details about the personal information we collect about you and how we use it.
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected about you. You can do this directly in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information. Raiser Software does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration.
Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)
If you are a Canadian resident, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, you can manage your data directly through the App or contact us at support+pawgotchi@raisersoftware.com.
Equal Protection for All Users
The access, correction, deletion, and non-discrimination rights described in the California (CCPA) and Canadian (PIPEDA) sections above are extended to every PawGotchi user regardless of where you live. If a local privacy law grants you rights beyond those listed here (for example, the EU / UK GDPR or Brazil's LGPD), those additional rights also apply and you can exercise them by contacting us at support+pawgotchi@raisersoftware.com.
